چکیده
Olecranon and coronoid fossae of lower end of humerus separated by thin plate of bony septum (0.5 to 1 mm thickness). Sometimes the bony septum may shows perforated clear foramen is referred as Supratrochlear foramen (STF). STF is always associated with narrow medullary canal, in that case it is not easy to perform intramedullary fixation of the humerus in traumatic injuries and pathologic fractures is very difficult. Present study conducted on 160 humerus (82 right side and 78 left side), bones were collected from department of anatomy, KFMS&R, coimbatore, Tamilnadu. Results: Oval shaped foramens were more common, the mean length and standard deviation of vertical and transverse diameter are analysed. This study focused on morphometric analysis of STF. The anatomical knowledge of STF is beneficial for orthopaedic surgeons, radiologists and anthropologists in day to day clinical practice.

Investigating the supratrochlear foramen and septum in adult humerus bones: brief report
Background: The supratrochlear foramen (STF) is an important and relatively common anatomic variation in the lower end of the humerus in humans. In recent years it has become clear that STF should be emphasized because anatomical knowledge of STF is useful for anatomists, anthropologists, orthopedic surgeons, and radiologists. The anatomical structure of the humerus may play an important role i...

The supratrochlear foramen (STF) is an important and relatively common anatomic variation in the lower end of the humerus in humans. The present study on south Indian population is an attempt to highlight the incidence, morphological features and clinical importance of STF. The study was conducted on dried human humeri of unknown sex and free of pathological changes. The presence of a STF was n...
متن کاملSupratrochlear foramen of the humerus: An anatomico-radiological study with clinical implications
BACKGROUND The supratrochlear foramen (STF) of the humerus has been a neglected entity in standard anatomy and orthopaedics text-books. The knowledge of the presence of STF in a humerus may be important for preoperative planning for treatment of supracondylar fractures. The presence of STF may also result in erroneous interpretation of radiographs. METHODS The STF was studied in detail in 384...
متن کاملAnatomical note of supratrochlear foramen of humerus in south costal population of Andhra Pradesh
Background: Supratrochlear foramen (STF) in adult humerus is formed by perforation of thin bony septum present between olecranon fossa and coronoid fossa, which is found proximal to trochlea of humerus. Presence of this foramen is clinically important during preoperative planning for intramedullary nailing in the treatment of supracondylar fractures of distal humerus. Methods: The study was con...
